The Fraser River Discovery Centre wants you to join our team! We offer a wide variety of volunteer positions, giving our volunteers the opportunity to work in areas of personal interest. Do you enjoy research, or are you more interested in interacting with the public? Would you like to help educate students about the history, environment, culture, and industry of the Fraser River, or would you prefer to be a part of our special events? No matter what your interests, we have a place for you!

April is National Volunteer Appreciation month. The Fraser River Discovery Centre has an exceptional team of volunteers who assist with all aspects of the Discovery Centre operations. In 2016, 54 volunteers contributed 1856.3 hours of outstanding service.

We celebrated their contributions on Saturday April 29th and thank our community partners for providing services and gifts for our volunteers:

  • Angelina's Restaurant, New Westminster
  • Britannia Shipyards, Richmond
  • Safeway, New Westminster Skytrain Station
  • Shoppers Drug Mart, New Westminster Skytrain Station
  • Zone Bowling, Coquitlam
  • Old Spaghetti Factory, New Westminster
  • New Westminster Parks, Culture & Recreation

Volunteer Opportunities Include:

  • School Program Leader - Lead educational programs for school groups.
  • Facilitator - Lead birthday parties, give guided tours, assist with crafts, and help out with special events both at the Discovery Centre and in the community.
  • Festival Volunteer - Help organize our biggest festival of the year - RiverFest!
